Fished yesterday(Thursday)with Rick Gibbs of Lafayette along with his brother Ron of the Houston, Tx. area. I pushed the trip back to the evening due to another inaccurate weather forecast. Boy, did we get blown out as the stiff NE wind howled the entire evening! Rick and Ron were great sports as we fished many locations and finally hit paydirt from 7:45---8:30p.m. The guys caught a limit of redfish and a mess of trout right before dusk. Earlier in the day Rick caught 2 reds on the Bayou Chub Minnow in the 8lb. range. The wind laid right before dark and thats when we caught the majority of our fish. The final tally yesterday was 15 redfish, 10 trout,8 Blackdrum and 1 foul-hooked sheepshead. *********Today was a completely different story as the wind finally gave us a break. "YELLOW MOUTH FEVER" is back "DOWN IN DULARGE" as we slammed 125 big yellow-mouths in the 16-20 inch range! The avocado & smoke/chartreuse Bayou Chub Minnows did all the damage. Fishing with me today with Glaxo Smith Kline were Marcel Chauvin of Thibodaux, Alan Davis of Baton Rouge, David Flanagan of Baton Rouge and Corbett LeBouef M.D. of Abbeville, La. The guys had a great time as the trout were eating up on small shrimp and couldn't resist the "chubs". David caught a nice 8lb redfish that will fit just right on the grill. Hope the wind stays down as I can't wait to jump on them again tomorrow with the MMR Group. The water was off- color today due to all the wind yesterday but should clear up a bit by tomorrow. We had live minnows on the boat today and all they produced were hard-heads. The trout would not touch them!!! Buy some Bayou Chubs---I guarantee you won't be sorry and you'll save money doing so! Good luck fishing!
P.S.---Special thanks to Capt. Craig Major for lending a helping hand with the second boat as Rick and Ron Gibbs wanted to fish one more day. They also had a nice box of big trout and 1 redfish.
