The fishing in the Rep. of Panama has been above par and the catching has also been great. Offshore in the Gulf of Panama vast aggregations of sailfish, dorado, marlin and tuna are feeding on the 'new' bait created by the seasonally upwelled cold water currents. We released 2 striped marlin, lost 2 blacks and landed several dorado, tuna, snapper & grouper on a 3 day trip to San Jose island of the Perlas Island chain. Closer to home, (Panama City) the snook & tarpon are over active in the Bayano river with several noteworthy specimens having been caught or released. In just the past week we released 4 tarpon over 120 pounds and 4 snook over 25 pounds! One tarpon might have gone close to 180 and the largest snook measured 44 inches long and the spring scale said 42 pounds. We also lost some fish that looked bigger so I know they are out there! Check out my web site at "http://www.panamafishingan dcatching.com" for more indepth fishing oppportunities close to Panama city, Panama.
